On the afternoon of December 11th, the "Joint Construction of the Global Ecological Community - Xi Jinping's Ecological Civilization Thought Theme Lecture" was held in Room 1201 of the library building, hosted by the Nanchong City Federation of Social Sciences and SIEC (School of International Education and Cooperation) of North Sichuan Medical College, and organized by the Sichuan Health Culture Promotion Base (Management College of North Sichuan Medical College) and the Nanchong City Association for the Popularization of Cultural and Scientific Knowledge. Professor Wu Xiaochuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Nanchong City Federation of Social Sciences and Teaching Supervisor at West China Normal University, delivered the keynote speech. Teacher Yang Yang from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of West China Normal University served as the simultaneous interpreter. All international students from our university's 2023 class participated in this lecture.

Wu Xiaochuan interpreted President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the United Nations Biodiversity Summit and the Leaders' Summit of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, entitled "Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth," to explain the Chinese wisdom and solutions contained in Xi Jinping's ecological civilization thought, which emphasizes China's commitment to building a community of life featuring mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts, and advancing biodiversity governance in a coordinated manner. This includes accelerating the pace of national legislation for biodiversity protection, demarcating ecological protection redlines, establishing a national park system, implementing major biodiversity conservation projects, and enhancing social participation and public awareness. It also emphasizes finding development opportunities in the protection of nature, achieving a win-win situation for ecological and environmental protection and high-quality economic development.

Wu Xiaochuan also advocated for enhanced international cooperation, green international cooperation, and the shared benefits of green development, as well as meeting the aspirations of the people for a better life, achieving multiple-win outcomes such as environmental protection, economic development, job creation, and poverty alleviation, and enhancing the sense of gain, happiness, and security of the people of all countries. It upholds the concept of ecological civilization, stands at a height of responsibility for future generations, and jointly builds a community of life on Earth and a clean and beautiful world.

The organizers also prepared colorful video courseware and informative exhibition boards for the event. Topics such as "Green Mountains and Clear Waters are Invaluable Assets," "Peak Carbon Emissions and Carbon Neutrality," "2030 Sustainable Development Agenda," and "Respect, Conform, and Protect Nature, and Build a Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature on Earth" deeply attracted the international students. After the thematic lecture, the students collectively watched the exhibition boards and engaged in sharing and discussions.
