From October 11th to 12th, 2024, faculty members Yang Chunyun and Qu Yun from our university participated in the international academic conference titled "Theoretical and Practical Integration of International Chinese Education in the Context of Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning." The conference was held at Southwest University of Science and Technology in Mianyang, Sichuan. Over 300 experts, scholars, master's and doctoral students, and Senior Project Officer of the Development Planning Division, Center for International Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education, representing more than 100 universities and institutions from countries such as Russia, the United States, Mexico, and Spain, attended the event.
On the afternoon of the 11th, the conference was conducted in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline sessions. Five sub-forums were organized, with Yang Chunyun delivering a keynote speech at the fourth sub-forum on "Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language for Clinical Medicine Students at Local Medical Colleges." In her presentation, she thoroughly introduced the local medical colleges model for training international Chinese language talents, covering challenges encountered in teaching Chinese as a foreign language over the past eight years, implemented teaching reforms, achieved objectives, and teaching outcomes. The long-standing practice and forward-looking approach of North Sichuan Medical College, especially in the integration of "Chinese as a Foreign Language + Clinical Medicine," received high praise from Professor Liu Yang, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Chongqing University, during his review. As the session moderator, Yang Chunyun leveraged the platform of this international academic conference to enhance other universities' understanding of our institution’s Chinese language teaching for international students. This also facilitated deeper exchanges with educators from other institutions, further promoting the achievements of our university in the field of international Chinese language education.
