In November 2024, the School of International Education and Cooperation, in collaboration with the School of Marxism, organized the “Understanding Contemporary China” Chinese Language Teacher Training. The training consisted of three sessions, each focused on one of the following themes: “Seventy-Five Years of Achievements: A New Era of Prosperity and Progress”, “Accelerating the Development of New Productive Forces”, and “Securing China’s Energy Future”. The goal of the training was to enhance teachers’ understanding of China’s current situation and development strategy, as well as to improve their teaching abilities and sense of responsibility for international student courses.

In the first session, the speaker focused on the development of new productive forces and discussed the crucial role of technological innovation in driving China’s economic transformation and upgrading. The session provided detailed insights into China’s latest advancements and applications in fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, and new energy, offering teachers valuable cutting-edge knowledge. The second session reviewed the remarkable achievements of the Chinese Communist Party over the past 75 years, especially the significant progress made in China’s economy, technology, and culture since the reform and opening up. Through rich historical materials and vivid case studies, teachers gained a deeper appreciation of the challenges and the great spirit behind China’s development. The third session centered on energy security, highlighting China’s determination and actions in energy structural adjustments and green, low-carbon development.

The “Understanding Contemporary China” Chinese Language Teacher Training was highly valued by both the School of International Education and Cooperation and the School of Marxism. The participants, who are teachers of Chinese as a foreign language, expressed that the training not only enhanced their theoretical literacy and teaching skills but also provided strong support for their future efforts in conveying the Chinese voice and telling China’s story in international Chinese education. They committed to improving the quality of classroom teaching for international students and contributing to fostering greater cultural exchange and understanding between China and other countries. In the future, they aim to cultivate more outstanding international students with a global perspective and a deep connection to China.
