In order to allow Chinese and international students to experience China's rural revitalization and excellent traditional culture firsthand, and to enhance the ability of college students to serve and contribute to society, a team of 21 Chinese and international students organized by SIEC (School of International Education and Cooperation) went to Guangyuan City from July 13th to July 17th to carry out a five-day summer social practice activity, including agricultural assistance, learning about Maliu Township's intangible cultural heritage embroidery, caring teaching, cultural investigation, and cultural performance.
On July 13th, the practice team arrived at Jianmen Pass. Standing in front of the steep Jianmen Pass, both Chinese and international students were shocked by its majestic and spectacular momentum. They walked along the ancient boardwalk, experiencing firsthand the perilous terrain of "one man guarding the pass, ten thousand men unable to pass it", while also gaining a deeper understanding of the ancient military defense system.
On July 14th, Chinese and international students came to Guangyuan Museum, where the team members seemed to have traveled through time and space, gaining a deep understanding of the long history and culture of Guangyuan and even the Bashu region through precious cultural relics and vivid historical paintings. International students showed a strong interest in China's ancient civilization, and expressed that this visit has given them a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of Chinese culture.
On July 15th, the practice team arrived in Maliu Township. They walked into the Maliu Embroidery Training Center, exchanged and learned from local embroidery women, personally tried embroidery techniques, and experienced the charm of traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage handicrafts. In addition, Chinese and international students also arrived at Mengguo Farm. The farm staff enthusiastically explained the cultivation techniques of cherries to the Chinese and foreign students present, and shared relevant knowledge on various matters to be aware of during the planting process. These activities not only allowed international students to understand the achievements of China's rural revitalization, but also promoted friendship and cooperation between Chinese and international students.
On July 16th, at Guangyuan Welfare House, Chinese and international students brought a wonderful multicultural exchange and sharing session for the elderly and children here. They wrote and performed multiple programs including dance, songs, recitation, etc., showcasing the integration and collision of Chinese and foreign cultures. In addition, the students also donated books, stationery and other items to the children in the welfare house, conveying the warmth and care of society through practical actions.
On July 17th, the last stop of the practical activity, Chinese and international students arrived at the ancient city of Zhaohua. This ancient city with a long history is like a heavy historical book, recording the past glory and vicissitudes. The students visited historical sites such as ancient houses and temples, and experienced the artistic charm of ancient architectures. In the alleys of the ancient city, they also tasted local delicacies and experienced Guangyuan's unique food culture.
This summer social practice activity not only allowed Chinese and international students to gain a deeper understanding of Guangyuan's history, culture, natural scenery, and rural revitalization status, but also promoted cultural exchange and friendship between them. By participating in various activities together, Chinese and international students not only exercised their abilities and qualities, but also contribute to society. Looking ahead to the future, SIEC will continue to uphold the concept of "serving society and giving back to society", actively organize more meaningful social practices and public welfare activities, and contribute to the cultivation of more international medical talents who are knowledgeable, friendly, and love China.
