The Vice Dean of the School of International Education and Cooperation, Liu Shangqing, served as the host.
The 11 participants carefully prepared their teaching materials, designed detailed lesson plans, and created well-organized English PowerPoint presentations. Before the competition, Zhang Siguo, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office and Party Secretary of the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures, provided guidance and expressed his sincere expectations for the participants.
During the competition, the teachers focused on their respective fields, presenting their lessons within the allotted time. They demonstrated their teaching through slide presentations, writing on the board, and engaging the audience in interactive ways, fully showcasing their skills in teaching English to international students.
After the presentations, Tao Jia, winner of the Second National MBBS Young Teacher Teaching Competition, and Liu Ying, Teaching Supervisor for International Students at North Sichuan Medical College, served as judges. They provided feedback on the content, teaching methods, and language use, offering valuable suggestions for improvement. In the closing remarks, Xiao Fengling, Dean of the School of International Education and Cooperation, expressed gratitude to the judges, participants, and related departments. After intense competition, Fan Xinhao from the College of Pharmacy won the first prize and will represent the school in the 4th National English Teaching Competition for Young Clinical Medicine Teachers of International Students (English-medium).
“Teaching without research is shallow, but research with insight leads to progress”. This competition provided a platform for young teachers to learn from each other and improve together. It promoted the concept of “improving teaching, learning, research, and reform through competitions”, and laid a solid foundation for the improvement of young teachers’ English teaching abilities at our school.
