On November 1, 2024, the “2nd Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle International Chinese Education Competition” concluded successfully at the Shizishan Campus of Sichuan Normal University. Tamara (RAYEESA TABASSUM TAMARA) from the 2023 MBBS class, guided by instructor Yang Chunyun, participated in the finals of the competition after securing 9th place in the Sichuan regional semi-finals through two rounds of online evaluations. In the final, she showcased her Chinese language knowledge, cultural understanding, and talents in the form of a quiz, quick-answer, and performance segments, ultimately winning the second prize.
The competition, jointly organized by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, attracted over 300 students from more than 60 universities in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, including institutions like Chongqing University, Sichuan Normal University, Sichuan International Studies University, Southwest University, and Chongqing Normal University. This event provided a platform for international students to demonstrate their abilities and exchange with peers, while promoting inter-university collaboration in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and enhancing the influence of international Chinese education.
Our university will continue to focus on the needs of international students, adhering to the “Language +” educational model and the concept of integrating language services into clinical medical education. We not only embed cultural education subtly in language classes but also offer extracurricular programs like “Chinese Classic Culture Practice Courses” to improve students’ practical language skills, cross-cultural adaptation, communication, and innovation. Tamara’s success serves as an inspiration for other international students to actively participate in academic competitions, contributing to the school’s achievements.
